Jean-Philippe Riant, Founder and Director of Chronoshooting, based in Paris is one of our most valuable clients. We began working together on a small scale assignment and a thought, which is now a huge application in reality.
The idea behind the application is to encourage photography and provide a platform for all photography lovers to participate and win the contests based on their photography skills.
The scope of the project involved the designing and development of a mobile app that serves as a platform to encourage the photographers to click photos and get a chance to win the title of “France champion of photography".
The administrator of the app creates a “Photowalk” that defines the route of various locations where the user will have to visit and click a picture. They will then have to unlock the check points at each location and finally will upload the set of pictures in a series.
The user has the following workflow to use the app :-
- Login and register on the app.
- Follow the photowalk and click to unlock the check points at each location in the path.
- Take picture on that particular location and proceed to the next.
- Publish the best 9 pictures in a series via the application.
The series are then evaluated by the jury and a report of evaluation is received by an email on the following factors :-
- Technical realization
The users of the app can create their own photowalk through the online editor of the application and other users can visit them. They can view series and discover those of others within an interactive gallery. The users can also share and publish their own series on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter & Instagram .
The photography industry has gone through a revolution over the past 5-10 years with the introduction of digital cameras, smart phones & various social media platforms. Mobile platforms offer a wealth of tools to get the best out of your photos right from fixing the basics to significantly enhancing your images with creative filters, borders and text options. In the present era, many apps have been developed to encourage the creativity of photography lovers and provide a platform to share their passion with the people across the globe.
The application was designed with an aim to provide a platform to express your creativity through the realization of series of 9 photos and be the first to win the title of “France Champion of Photography”.
While creating the photowalks, we provided options to show the coordinates of check points on the map. The most challenging part of the application was to verify that the user has visited every location on the designed path. For this, the “unlock feature” was implemented.
Whenever, the user visits the location and clicks on the check point, the coordinates of the user and the check points are matched as part of verification following which the next checkpoint gets unlocked.
The application was designed with landscape orientation and Apple Maps API for iOS and Google Maps API for Android were used.
The development of this application was an enlightening experience altogether. With this application, we have gained the experience in developing GPS tracking functionality, drawing the route on map with the help of Mapping API’s. We also gained experience with tools to adjust the pictures in proper aspect ratio (sizes- 1X1, 3X2) to make a series of 9 photos. We are thankful for the opportunity and proud to deliver our technical expertise and implementation capabilities for this application.
